RECYCLE YOUR KC COLUMBIA MAGAZINES

If you have any of the monthly KC Columbia magazines you have received and would like to recycle and put them to good use at the same time, please donate them to me by bringing them to any of our meetings. I would like to give them to new members when I meet with them to show what the magazine they will start receiving is like. If you cannot make it to a meeting and would like to drop them off at my house or have me pick them up, just give me a call at 713-823-9182. Thank you in advance for your donations. UPCOMING "KNIGHT IN A DAY" MAJOR DEGREE

UPCOMING "KNIGHT IN A DAY" MAJOR DEGREE

Brother Knights, please mark your calendar - Saturday, June 3rd, at St. Faustina Catholic Church 28102 FM1093 in Fulshear. All 1st, 2nd and 3rd Degree Knights in Our Council are invited and encouraged to attend. No charge for current Knights to attend and a nominal $5 charge for lunch for non-candidates.

1st Degree Knights - This is your opportunity to advance to "full Knighthood" by completing your 2nd & 3rd Degrees at the same time. You can even attend the 1st Degree Exemplification as an observer and experience the exemplification from a different perspective.
2nd & 3rd Degree Knights - This is your opportunity to be an observer of the 1st, 2nd and/or 3rd Degree Exemplifications (some have been changed in the past several years) and recharge yourself as a Knight as you hear the importance of our principles explained.
All Brother Knights - Most important, your attendance is essential as a show of support to our New Knights going through the 1st Degree and all of the current Knights advancing to full Knighthood by doing their 2nd & 3rd Degrees.

Registration for the 1st Degree (Admission Degree) is at 7:30am and the Degree starts at 8:00am. Registration for the 2nd Degree (Formation Degree) and 3rd Degree (Knighthood Degree) will begin at 9:00am and the 2nd Degree will start at 10:00am immediately followed by the 3rd Degree.

Please contact either WGK David Hobson at 832-755-8239 or davidhobson224@gmail.com or me at 713-823-9182 or martygib56@gmail.com if you will be able to attend or if you have any questions.

Fraternally Yours,

Brother Marty Gibula, Field Agent

Impact a Hero

The annual Impact a Hero 5K Race is scheduled for May 20th at Sugar Land's Constellation Field. The home of the Skeeters serves as the backdrop for the 13th annual fundraiser that benefits the severely wounded veterans returning from the Iraq and Afghanistan wars. The funds are used for a vast number of things that our government has not provided for our heroes but are sorely needed.

We can use everyone's help. Several of us will be there at 5:00 AM to start getting organized and the rest need to be there a little before 6:00 AM. We will need help setting out hundreds of traffic cones, 150 US flags and dozens of tents and chairs. It takes a big crew to do all of this.  It looks like we will have around 1300 runners signed up by this Saturday. This is a motivator for the Knights when they get to meet and thank several severely wounded vets that morning.  Come out and have some fun.

Please sign up to run the race or pledge to your favorite runner who has already signed up to run. There is a wheelchair race, a 5K race and a Kids 1K race. You can sign up to run with your company or as a private group. This is a family event and at the post race party we will have free food and drinks for all the runners. There will be a kids fun zone with inflatables for them to play on and a train to ride on around the parking lot

The Knights of Columbus have been the lead volunteer group for the event every year since it started. With such a great volunteer staff the vast majority of the funds go directly to the heroes who need and appreciate the help.

The easiest way to donate to the race is to visit the website, impactahero.org. From there you can register yourself or your group or company. You can also donate directly to Impact a Hero or pledge to a runner. You can also see a list of all of the things Impact a Hero does for our Vets.
