From District Deputy
Worthy Grand Knights, The G-H Chapter will be holding a blood drive for PSD Javier Martinez just before and during our Chapter meeting tomorrow night, 1/09. The blood drive will run between 5:00 and 8:00 PM.
The drive is being organized by the Chapter and will be held in honor
of PSD Martinez. As you know his double lung transplant seems to
be taking but the liver transplant is not. He has used many pints
of blood and he and Marrietta feel this would be a great way to replace
the blood units that were used during his many surgeries. Please
ask all members of your Councils to sign up on line at www.commitforlife.org and
enter sponsor code: S140. This will let them know that this is
the PSD Javier Martinez event. While we are not allowed to
direct this blood to Javier's "account", the Gulf Coast Blood Bank
will know that the Chapter put this together for him and he will gain
recognition for sponsoring a blood drive in his name.
Javier is still looking to have several more surgeries when a new liver
match is found. He is making very tiny baby steps but he is
improving. Please continue all of the prayers and if you are able
to give blood, please sign up. If you can't give at this time,
please sign up at another event soon and use the sponsor code that I
listed above. Thanks, Ron Frerich District Deputy District #76 |
Thanks!
Thank
you to the brother Knights that were able to attend Saturday morning's
Mass, 12/30, and represent the KC's for the 5th Sunday Rosary.
During Mass Father Joseph made mention of how important it is to see men
of the Parish taking on this role, too.
Thanks
also goes out to the Brother Knights that assisted with this weekend's
monthly BBQ - in prep, cook and sales. We could not commit to this
each month without you! A special thanks to Brother Raul Martinez
for heading the cook. |
Super Bowl BBQ
Brothers,
This
weekend's bulletin contained our Super Bowl Sunday BBQ Pre-Sale Order
Form. We will be taking pre-sale orders for Angus Briskets (whole
and 1/2) until Sunday evening, January 28th, 7 pm. We are also
taking pre-orders for our regular BBQ items for those that want to
ensure we will have their Super Bowl Sunday meal items available.
If you hear of anyone wanting to place an order please refer them
to Brother Greg Nemec or myself. We will need a lot of help with
the Super Bowl cook the weekend of February 3rd and 4th and will
appreciate any and all assistance available.
Thanks,
GK David Hobson |
Upcoming Events
Brothers,
Lent
is fast approaching which brings with it the Mardi Gras Pancake Cook
and weekly Fish Frys. Please let me know if interested in chairing
or co-chairing either event. As you know - the Fish Fry is our
number one fundraiser of the year and takes many hands to ensure its
success. With a few years now under our belt the ordering process
and handling of product should be much more smooth this year.
Please prayerfully consider and let me know your thoughts.
