We
proclaim that human life is a precious gift from God; that each person
who receives this gift has responsibilities toward God, self and others;
and that society, through its laws and social institutions, must
protect and nurture human life at every stage of its existence.
U.S. Catholic Bishops, Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities , November
2001
During the month of October, the Church and
Knights of Columbus ask each of us to reflect more deeply on the
dignity of every human life. To celebrate
Respect Life Month, the Knights of Columbus are asking all parishioners
to pray that all human life will be preserved at every stage of its
existence.Prior to October 6th Respect Life Sunday, we
are asking each Knights to view the short video "Sing A Little Louder"
which was filmed in partnership with Catholic Witnesses and can be
located on YouTube. Reflect on the message presented in this film as you
pray for the preservation of all human life. Also, reflect on your role
in maintaining the dignity of life from conception to natural death.
Beginning on Saturday, October 19th, we are asking you to pray the ROSARY
NOVENA
FOR LIFE daily concluding on October 27th, "Life Chain Sunday". We will
be having our Richmond/Rosenberg Life Chain prayer vigil on that day
and ask that you join us.
You are asked to pray the Novena for the preservation and dignity of human life along with your personal intentions.
Please pray the "Prayer of Life" prayer found in Pope John Paul II's Evangelium Vitae, 1995 as follows:
PRAYER OF LIFE
O Mary,
bright dawn of the new world,
Mother of the living,
to you do we entrust the cause of life
Look down, O Mother,
upon the vast numbers
of babies not allowed to be born,
of the poor whose lives are made difficult,
of men and women
who are victims of brutal violence,
of the elderly and the sick killed
by indifference or out of misguided mercy.
Grant that all who believe in your Son
may proclaim the Gospel of life
with honesty and love
to the people of our time.
Obtain for them the grace
to accept that Gospel
as a gift ever new,
the joy of celebrating it with gratitude
throughout their lives
and the courage to bear witness to it
resolutely, in order to build,
together with all people of good will,
the civilization of truth and love,
to the praise and glory of God,
the Creator and lover of life.
We thank you for your continued support for the preservation and dignity of all human life.
